Looking for Life's Positive

End of the Term Positives
The end of the term is coming up on Friday and it's every teacher's nightmare. We have to get all of the grades put in before they are locked and finalized. Now in my class each Friday students have a 30 minute time block to work on any missing work, while those who completed their work on time get to watch a movie or play games. My TA has been awesome at helping me get grades in for missing work that's being turned in like nobody's business. However, with me being sick, she's had to teach and so I've taken the work home to grade and complete over the last few days. Well being sick doesn't lend itself to actually completing work you need to get done. So the old homework assignments have sat in my bag for a few days. Today I was able to knock out all of the worksheets that needed to be graded old and new. My students had a specialty this morning and then had to take a practice SAGE test so I had an hour of working time to get all the work graded and entered. I didn't succeed getting it all in this morning, but by the end of the work day, which is sadly right now I'm ready to head home with all assignments graded and only 1/3 of my students with missing work to turn in. Hallelujah!

Card Games
So I came home sick again today and pretty much slept the whole afternoon. My roommate's "boyfriend" wanted to come over and play some games. We played Blink, which was new to both me and the guy. It was pretty fun and super intense with competitive people. After playing a few rounds of cards, my roommate pulled out the game "Speak Out" which requires you to pretty much make a fool of yourself while everyone can see the whole inside of your mouth. It was a good pick me up for not feeling so great today. Hopefully, I continue to get better. I'm done being sick. A teacher can't afford to get sick and stay home, but I'm grateful that I've got people around me willing to help me pick up the slack and pick me up when I'm feeling blue.

Great Bosses
Well I finally caught the little bug that has been going around my classroom since November. I was so hoping it was going to not attack, but alas my dreams are crushed. Today's positive goes to the fact that I have great bosses! I went to my boss and asked to go home with an hour and a half left of school because I felt like I'd been run over. There was not a hesitation in her response of go and get better. I left my class in the hands of another ta and headed home to get some shut eye. It was such a nice little nap that helped me feel a little better. Hopefully this bug doesn't last too long because I'm already tired of sounding like a man! But I do get a kick out of laughing because I squeak like a pubescent school boy.

Giggling Like a School Girl and Delicious Cake
So part of looking for the positive today is two fold. Last night my roommate came home from a date at 1 am and I couldn't help but giggle because I'm excited for her right now. She's been on a few dates with a good guy and is having a lot fun taking it one step at a time. We were in our separate rooms with the doors open and we just couldn't stop giggling. After finally falling asleep, waking up to go to church, taking a nap, going to a meeting, and having dinner, I joined my roommate's family in singing happy birthday and had the best store bought cake ever! It was a strawberry and vanilla cake with buttercream frosting. It was super delicious and came from a bakery in American Fork. It's a good thing that my birthday is just around the corner because I think I'll go get a similar cake.
Hopefully reading these posts you aren't too bored, but I do understand because my life's pretty tame. I'm not out saving the world or anything. I'm just living life day to day and trying to find positive things that have happened. Don't forget to look for the positive in your life because I know you'll find it too! It's all around us. Life is a beautiful thing and we are very blessed to be here.

A Day Full of Food
So today was a great day because people were kind enough to pay for my food and I was well fed! I love a good steak. My sister and I decided to go get pedicures and in the middle of our pedicures, my grandma called me up and asked if I'd like to go to lunch with her. I said sure and we went to Sizzler in Provo with her 76ers Ham Radio group. It was a little awkward, but fun. I had a great steak and an even better salad! After lunch I went home and cleaned my apartment before heading with my roommate to her birthday dinner. She "chose" Ruby River in Provo and I got to experience having more steak! They were both great meals and I didn't have to pay a dime for either of them. Thank you to the wonderful people in my life that feed me delicious food! You're loved and very appreciated.

Friday Night Binge Watching
Normally I don't mind watching Netflix here and there and just vegging out in front of the tv. However, I have to be in the mood because I know how much time can be wasted sitting in front of the tv. So tonight I decided to put on Netflix and find a new show to watch. I tried out a couple that people have recommended, but nothing was really appealing. I finally thought I'd give IZombie a try. I don't like zombie movies really because they creep me out, but I'm not paranoid or afraid of it happening in real life, I just think it can be kind of graphic. Anyway, I started this show and got through about three episodes before I called it a night and I think I might like the show. I like that I have the freedom to stay at home on a Friday night and watch a show of my choosing.

Nothing Like Home and Family
Today was a long day. I stayed after work for an additional two hours getting things done, usually Thursdays are my late day at school. After "working hard" I started to head home and then went to my mom's house. My niece and nephews were there and they are always fun to hang out with. I spent some time there before heading home. On my way home, my sister sent me a text teasing me about never visiting her. I then called her on the phone and we talked for an hour and a half! Usually we talk for long hours on the phone all the time. It's nice that now I live in Lehi, I can stop in and see my parents and my siblings live close enough that I can visit with them when I want to. I also love that I can have long conversations with my family members and don't get tired of them.
