End of the Term Positives
The end of the term is coming up on Friday and it's every teacher's nightmare. We have to get all of the grades put in before they are locked and finalized. Now in my class each Friday students have a 30 minute time block to work on any missing work, while those who completed their work on time get to watch a movie or play games. My TA has been awesome at helping me get grades in for missing work that's being turned in like nobody's business. However, with me being sick, she's had to teach and so I've taken the work home to grade and complete over the last few days. Well being sick doesn't lend itself to actually completing work you need to get done. So the old homework assignments have sat in my bag for a few days. Today I was able to knock out all of the worksheets that needed to be graded old and new. My students had a specialty this morning and then had to take a practice SAGE test so I had an hour of working time to get all the work graded and entered. I didn't succeed getting it all in this morning, but by the end of the work day, which is sadly right now I'm ready to head home with all assignments graded and only 1/3 of my students with missing work to turn in. Hallelujah!

Card Games
So I came home sick again today and pretty much slept the whole afternoon. My roommate's "boyfriend" wanted to come over and play some games. We played Blink, which was new to both me and the guy. It was pretty fun and super intense with competitive people. After playing a few rounds of cards, my roommate pulled out the game "Speak Out" which requires you to pretty much make a fool of yourself while everyone can see the whole inside of your mouth. It was a good pick me up for not feeling so great today. Hopefully, I continue to get better. I'm done being sick. A teacher can't afford to get sick and stay home, but I'm grateful that I've got people around me willing to help me pick up the slack and pick me up when I'm feeling blue.

Great Bosses
Well I finally caught the little bug that has been going around my classroom since November. I was so hoping it was going to not attack, but alas my dreams are crushed. Today's positive goes to the fact that I have great bosses! I went to my boss and asked to go home with an hour and a half left of school because I felt like I'd been run over. There was not a hesitation in her response of go and get better. I left my class in the hands of another ta and headed home to get some shut eye. It was such a nice little nap that helped me feel a little better. Hopefully this bug doesn't last too long because I'm already tired of sounding like a man! But I do get a kick out of laughing because I squeak like a pubescent school boy.

Giggling Like a School Girl and Delicious Cake
So part of looking for the positive today is two fold. Last night my roommate came home from a date at 1 am and I couldn't help but giggle because I'm excited for her right now. She's been on a few dates with a good guy and is having a lot fun taking it one step at a time. We were in our separate rooms with the doors open and we just couldn't stop giggling. After finally falling asleep, waking up to go to church, taking a nap, going to a meeting, and having dinner, I joined my roommate's family in singing happy birthday and had the best store bought cake ever! It was a strawberry and vanilla cake with buttercream frosting. It was super delicious and came from a bakery in American Fork. It's a good thing that my birthday is just around the corner because I think I'll go get a similar cake.
Hopefully reading these posts you aren't too bored, but I do understand because my life's pretty tame. I'm not out saving the world or anything. I'm just living life day to day and trying to find positive things that have happened. Don't forget to look for the positive in your life because I know you'll find it too! It's all around us. Life is a beautiful thing and we are very blessed to be here.

A Day Full of Food
So today was a great day because people were kind enough to pay for my food and I was well fed! I love a good steak. My sister and I decided to go get pedicures and in the middle of our pedicures, my grandma called me up and asked if I'd like to go to lunch with her. I said sure and we went to Sizzler in Provo with her 76ers Ham Radio group. It was a little awkward, but fun. I had a great steak and an even better salad! After lunch I went home and cleaned my apartment before heading with my roommate to her birthday dinner. She "chose" Ruby River in Provo and I got to experience having more steak! They were both great meals and I didn't have to pay a dime for either of them. Thank you to the wonderful people in my life that feed me delicious food! You're loved and very appreciated.

Friday Night Binge Watching
Normally I don't mind watching Netflix here and there and just vegging out in front of the tv. However, I have to be in the mood because I know how much time can be wasted sitting in front of the tv. So tonight I decided to put on Netflix and find a new show to watch. I tried out a couple that people have recommended, but nothing was really appealing. I finally thought I'd give IZombie a try. I don't like zombie movies really because they creep me out, but I'm not paranoid or afraid of it happening in real life, I just think it can be kind of graphic. Anyway, I started this show and got through about three episodes before I called it a night and I think I might like the show. I like that I have the freedom to stay at home on a Friday night and watch a show of my choosing.

Nothing Like Home and Family
Today was a long day. I stayed after work for an additional two hours getting things done, usually Thursdays are my late day at school. After "working hard" I started to head home and then went to my mom's house. My niece and nephews were there and they are always fun to hang out with. I spent some time there before heading home. On my way home, my sister sent me a text teasing me about never visiting her. I then called her on the phone and we talked for an hour and a half! Usually we talk for long hours on the phone all the time. It's nice that now I live in Lehi, I can stop in and see my parents and my siblings live close enough that I can visit with them when I want to. I also love that I can have long conversations with my family members and don't get tired of them.

Birthday Dinner and Fulfilling a Bucket List Item
My roommate and I met up with our Bishop's wife to go out to dinner. At first we weren't sure where we were going and had the great debate on where to go. Sharon chose Olive Garden and I started thinking about what food I could order. The funniest part of the night was when we were driving, Morgan spotted the KSL truck and went bananas. She loves KSL and has always wanted to be on television. Sharon had said that she would pull over so that Morgan could get a picture. A compromise was made with Morgan taking a picture as we were driving. We went to Olive Garden and had a lot of delicious food! Sharon was kind enough to pay for dinner and on the way back to her house we saw the KSL truck was still at the gas station so we stopped. Morgan was so excited to take a picture with the news anchor. She was like a little kid at Christmas. We then went back to Sharon's house and talked each others' ears off for another hour. Overall it was a good night and Morgan got to check something off of her bucket list.

First Day Back From Break
Today was the first day back to work after the break. Last year my students were terrible and I was worried that today was going to be just like last year. I went to school early and started getting things together and preparing myself for how the students might act. However, when my students came into the classroom, they were so good! They came in quietly and sat right down, they didn't talk to one another and got started on their morning work. The day overall was great and that was definitely one of the best things about today.

Looking for the Good: Naps
Today's looking for the good boils down to day time naps! Today was the last day of my winter break and I woke up with a headache. I wasn't exactly excited about that, but I figured I have headaches often enough that I wasn't too worried about it. I got up and decided to plan for school for a few hours and then because I was tired and wanted to get rid of my headache, I voted to take a nap. Anyway, I just wanted to say that today's looking for the good was all about getting a nap!

Looking for the Good
Today was the first day of the new year! What can be more positive than that? Haha, just kidding. The positive thought/looking for the good today is the fact that I now have church at 9 am! I'm so stinking excited!!! I haven't had church at 9 am for about 4 years now. Single's wards usually have an interesting schedule anyway and if they are with family ward buildings, sometimes the times don't change like they would with normal wards. I woke up at 7, got ready and went to church. I was home by 12:30 and have been reading, working on a puzzle, writing in my journal, and writing a couple of updates for this blog and it's only 3 pm! I'm so stinking excited to have church early because then our meetings will be earlier too. Now I don't have to sit around and wait for church to start. Anyway, that's my "looking for the good" for today. I hope you look for the good in your life too!
